How it all started
Once upon a time in northern Minnesota, our founder Chad Halvorson found himself frustrated by having to call the grocery store where he worked or drive all the way in just to check his schedule. He knew there had to be a better way, and When I Work was born.
Sound familiar to you? We’ve all been there with our first hourly jobs. And this is where most small businesses find themselves. We love helping them save time, and giving their employees a voice in their scheduling. Join us to be a part of the story.

The reality of being a When I Worker is that we’re crazy about our customers and we love helping them succeed. They’re all different, and so are we—that’s why we’ve built a place where everyone brings their authentic selves to work every day. How we work
We are a remote-first company, so we mostly work from home. If you want to work in an office, we have a really cool one in downtown Minneapolis. Feel free to claim a desk! No matter where you work, though, you’ll find that we have a ton of ways to stay connected and we like to have fun.

In-person meetups
Talking to a square on your computer is a great way to get work done, but sometimes you need more than that. That’s why we hold meetups every so often. We like to get together to talk about new ideas, listen to customers, and just hang out with each other.
