7 Insider Tips to Increase Your Spring Spa & Salon Sales

Business is Booming & Blooming for Spas & Salons! 

What helps your business grow? Proms, graduations, Mothers Day (May 14th), Fathers Day (June 18th), weddings…all present opportunities to bring in new customers, promote your spa or salon business, and get creative with your marketing and promotion!

Here are 7 steps to plant the seeds that will blossom into exciting new growth this spring.

1. Track the trends. Glittery eyes and lips and mini braids are among a few of the hot spring looks from the runways (see below). Reiki, nutritional counseling, noninvasive body contouring, Botox, lash extensions and brow services are among this year’s spa trends, according to experts. Offer unique treatments that are one step ahead of your competitors’ services and bring in specialists to deliver them. Promote them on social media and in local publications (as well as through e-marketing and window signage).

2. Now is a time to adopt spa-friendly technologies that save you time and money and result in employee and customer satisfaction. Do-it-yourself booking systems and automated scheduling can be huge time- and cash-savers.

3. Offer specials for groups or parents/teens. Prom and graduation season can be stressful for the entire family. Encourage people to give the gift of relaxation with the people they care about. Friends often like to get spa treatments together. Use this as an opportunity to showcase your services to multiple people.

4. Gifts with services (like scented candles or other samples of body or hair treatments) could be a great way to showcase the products you sell and will establish you as a business that cares about its customers. Ask your vendors if they will assist with free samples.

5. Make sure you have enough staff to handle all the new customers that come in. Schedule your team members in a way that prevents burn-out. You want every client to have a wonderful, relaxing experience. Host a fun team training session in April to prepare your hourly employees for the spring season. Remember that they may have family and friend obligations too, so you should be mindful of their needs for time off.

6. Be social! Use your social media sites to showcase spa and salon specials, hair and make-up ideas, and before-and-after photos. Encourage happy clients to post on Yelp and on your social sites.

7. De-stress yourself. Business owners and managers often fail to take time to tend to their own health and well-being. If you don’t have time to take a vacation after your busy spring season is over, incorporate relaxation techniques into your day-to-day schedule. You can even download meditation apps on your phone and take a short break to find some zen.
