WorkChat: The New Way to Communicate with Your Team

We’re excited to announce a new feature that was just added to all When I Work accounts with less than 100 registered users. It’s called WorkChat, and it’s the new way to communicate and collaborate with your team.

What is WorkChat?

WorkChat is a team messaging tool that allows you and your employees to send messages and images in real-time without needing to exchange personal contact information. It’s a centralized hub that you can use to send mass, group, or 1:1 messages and photos to employees.

Who is WorkChat For?

WorkChat was built for businesses managing 100 employees or fewer. It’s for any team that has historically had to use any combination of Facebook Messenger, email, group text, WhatsApp, Snapchat, or other tools to communicate with one another.

How Can You Use WorkChat?

You can use WorkChat to:

Post Announcements
Keep your team up-to-date on important information by sending a quick announcement to everyone at the same time.

Share Pictures
Post photos and snapshots that help provide employees with the information they need to work successful shifts.

Build Community
Create a sense of community among your team by inviting everyone to chat each other throughout the week.

Get Last-Minute Help
Quickly reach out to your team when you need volunteers to help you complete tasks related to your business.

Ask Questions
Get answers to questions without having to pick up the phone, send a flurry of text messages, or meet on location.

Communicate 1:1
Have a private 1:1 conversation with one of your employees without having to text, email, or call them.

Send Reminders
Keep employees accountable and successful by sending them reminders about the week ahead.

Start Group Messages
Create a private group chat for times when you only want to communicate with a handful of people on your team.

Why Did We Build It?

We’ve always been committed to building powerful, user-friendly, and affordable tools for small to medium-sized business owners, because we believe they deserve them as much as the big guys. We’ve spent a lot of time talking to customers who share with us all the channels and tools they use to communicate with their employees. We wanted to make it easier by creating a one-stop shop, right in the When I Work app.

We also received a lot of feedback from employees who tell us that they do not always like the idea of having to provide their coworkers with their personal mobile numbers, personal email addresses, or access to personal Facebook accounts. WorkChat allows everyone to communicate with each other without having to use personal contact information.

We also wanted to make it easier for teams to be proactive when it comes to communication. WorkChat allows businesses to create a sense of community across their teams. It’s a new way to bring your employees together and ensure that everyone has the chance to be heard.

Finally, as always, we want to help you save more time so that you can spend less time managing employees and more time doing what you love—whether that means growing your business, talking to customers, or taking a vacation with your family. With WorkChat, you can communicate with everyone from anywhere, without ever having to pick up the phone, send an email, or log into Facebook.
